Welcome!  I’m Jill Kirkpatrick, owner of Classic Travels, L.L.C. located in Bettendorf, Iowa.  I have been actively involved with group travel for over 30 years and have escorted tours to all seven continents.  This site will be updated with our current travel plans and late breaking news.  We offer one-day trips to dinner theaters, shopping venues, Broadway shows in Chicago, mystery trips and more, as well as attending some local events.  Also, several multi-day trips and international destinations are offered, and you may download these brochures from this website when available. As we near the end of the year, there’s still space on a few one day trips, particularly The Big Band Show and Jim McDonough’s Christmas show. Read inside for all the details and the payment deadlines which are quickly approaching.               

As far as cruises, the January 18-28 cruise/tour next year has had a cancellation and we are holding the cabin until October 19. It cruises the Mexican Riviera with a pre-night on the “Queen Mary” in Long Beach, CA, and a 7-night cruise on the beautiful “Ruby Princess”. The Western Mediterranean one next October has had overwhelming response and is sold out.  

Note there are two great shows coming to Chicago for all you Broadway fans. “Waitress” will be Wednesday, July 18 and a trip to see the pre-Broadway debut of the new musical, “Pretty Woman” will be Wednesday, April 11.

All the Fireside shows are selling quite well for next year. They usually sell out so call and reserve now so you’re not disappointed. We are booked in our usual great seats.

Hunter Fuerste and the Big Band Show at the Grand Opera House in Dubuque
It’s the best big band sound around, and we have great center section seats for his annual Big Band Show with a 14-piece American Vintage Orchestra. It’s always a new show and very popular. Prior to the matinee show, enjoy a luncheon buffet of fried chicken, roast beef, ham, potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salad bar plus selected dishes, rolls and butter, coffee, iced tea or lemonade. “Miracle on 34th Street” at The Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI
Only 2 seats remain. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade needs a new Santa. Enter Kris Kringle—a sweet and jolly old man who claims that he is the real Santa Claus. Thus begins this funny, warm, tuneful and inspirational musical as Kris has to prove his claim in court and teach his neighbor and her daughter to believe in the goodness and love that is Christmas. Lunch includes cream of mushroom soup, a skinless breast of chicken dipped in egg and lightly breaded and served on a lemon cream sauce with garlic Parmesan orzo and roasted fresh vegetables. Sold out. Call to go on the wait list. We’ll spend most of the day at the new outlets which are to open October 20. You’ll receive a coupon book upon arrival. Some stores announced so far include Asics, Bath & Body Works, Carter’s, Converse, Famous Footwear, Francesca’s, Lane Bryant, Levi’s, Lids, LOFT Outlet, Maurices, Nike, OshKosh B’gosh, Skechers, Tommy Hilfiger, Under Armour, Vera Bradley, Book Warehouse, Brooks Brothers, Game Boy, GNC, Toys R Us and Yankee Candle. Mid-day join us as we shop at the Container Store in West Des Moines. There will be a stop for breakfast in the morning, take a short dinner break at Williamsburg to eat/shop on our way home, and visit the NEW Trader Joe’s in Coralville which just opened. Holiday Pops Concert, Adler Theater, Davenport
This year’s concert will be a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans throughout the world. It features the entire film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” being screened with the music removed and every note being performed live by the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. Relive the adventures of Harry and his friends and the magic of the film in high-definition on a giant screen, while hearing the orchestra perform John Williams’ unforgettable score. We have reserved a limited number of great main floor seats for both the 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. shows. Price is $45 adults, $41 for any student with an ID, age 5 through college, ticket only. Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope when mailing in your payment and we will mail your tickets on or about November 7. Be sure to indicate which show you plan to attend, how many adult and student tickets you require, and all those to be seated with you. We need a minimum number of reservations to get this pricing. It’s a wonderful show full of holiday music, memories and comedy focusing on the gifts of the season from the crazy shopping, wrapping, and gift-giving to the incredible gifts of love, family and faith. The buffet lunch includes lettuce salad with dressings, chicken brushetta pasta, glazed ham, green beans, garlic smashed potatoes, dinner rolls, beverage and Chef’s choice of dessert. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right. Sold out.This has a very short run in Chicago before it heads off to Broadway, and we are lucky enough to have secured seating in the Loge. The musical adaptation of the smash 1990 romantic comedy “Pretty Woman” has laid out its route to Broadway, with a creative team that includes musician Bryan Adams and Garry Marshall, the late director of the film, as well as a cast led by Samantha Barks. There will be time to shop/eat downtown prior to the 2:00 p.m. matinee, an optional visit to Trader Joe’s and a stop for dinner en route home. Leave 7:00 a.m. return 9:00 p.m. Price is $152 per person and includes bus and show. A $25 non-refundable deposit holds your space if received within 2 weeks of reserving. Church Basement Ladies 2nd Helping, Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI
Join us as our ladies deal with life, death, and new aeventures, finding strength in each other from below the “House of God”. This time around the year is 1969 and the world is changing. As folks protest the Vietnam War and women are demanding equal pay for equal work in their small rural Minnesota community, the ladies of the Lutheran church basement kitchen are dealing with changes of their own. With their humor and hilarious antics they take us from serving the high school students at the Luther League Banquet to a church sponsored Missionary Night and the rise and fall of a Viking’s Super Bowl Sunday. Lunch is a salad of strawberries, mangoes, candied pecans, and cheddar cheese on Arugula then glazed with a raspberry viniagrette dressing. The entrée is a beef short rib with whipped potatoes, a mix of fresh Julienne vegetables, and a baked tomato filled with seasoned garlic croutons, Feta cheese and bacon chips. Western Mediterranean Cruise
Unfortunately, there has been so much interest in this cruise that it is sold out with 18 on a wait list. We’re still awaiting hotel and airline pricing, but should have it by about October 31 with a  preliminary brochure available shortly thereafter.  All cabins are balconies and will be approximately $5,750 dbl. to include roundtrip bus to Chicago; overnight with breakfast; air to/from Barcelona, Spain; pre and post nights in Barcelona with sightseeing; 12-day cruise to include Valencia, Alicante and Malaga, Spain; Gibraltar in the United Kingdom; Provence and Nice in France; and Florence/Pisa, Rome, and Naples/Capri in Italy with 2 days at sea; trip insurance; and shipboard gratuities. Miscellaneous Information

Reservations:
If you would like to make or cancel reservations or to receive a brochure, call us at Classic Travels, at (563) 332-0014.  Our answering machine will take your message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.  Remember to speak slowly and clearly and to give your name, telephone number, and message so we can get back to you if necessary. If you don’t receive a call back within 24 hours, we’re probably on a trip, and if outside the United States, will only be able to respond to email messages. You will, however, receive a call back as soon as we return. Check out the newsletter to see if we’re traveling.

Trip Departures:
Bus arrives 30 minutes prior to departure from Northwest Bank & Trust Company, 100 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport, lower parking lot, west side of the building. Tenants and employees park in this lot and the Bank graciously allows us to use it while on trips.  As a result, please park your vehicles west and north of the building. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Payment:
Trips are payable about 30 days in advance unless stated otherwise.  If you need to cancel, call us as soon as possible as many dates sell out and have a wait list.  For overnight trips, a reservation is confirmed only when a completed reservation form, with your down payment, is received.  Checks should be made payable to Classic Travels and mailed to 3371 Eastridge Drive, Bettendorf, Iowa 52722. Usually final payment dates are listed at the end of trip descriptions.  To be fair, if payment is not received by the final payment date, reservations will automatically be offered to those on the wait list. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Gift Certificates:
The perfect gift for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, or just “because”, is a Classic Travels gift certificate available in any amount.  Simply give us a couple days’ notice to prepare one for you.
