As we near the end of the year, there’s still space on a few one day trips, particularly The Big Band Show and Jim McDonough’s Christmas show. Read inside for all the details and the payment deadlines which are quickly approaching.
As far as cruises, the January 18-28 cruise/tour next year has had a cancellation and we are holding the cabin until October 19. It cruises the Mexican Riviera with a pre-night on the “Queen Mary” in Long Beach, CA, and a 7-night cruise on the beautiful “Ruby Princess”. The Western Mediterranean one next October has had overwhelming response and is sold out.
Note there are two great shows coming to Chicago for all you Broadway fans. “Waitress” will be Wednesday, July 18 and a trip to see the pre-Broadway debut of the new musical, “Pretty Woman” will be Wednesday, April 11.
All the Fireside shows are selling quite well for next year. They usually sell out so call and reserve now so you’re not disappointed. We are booked in our usual great seats.

Hunter Fuerste and the Big Band Show at the Grand Opera House in Dubuque
It’s the best big band sound around, and we have great center section seats for his annual Big Band Show with a 14-piece American Vintage Orchestra. It’s always a new show and very popular. Prior to the matinee show, enjoy a luncheon buffet of fried chicken, roast beef, ham, potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salad bar plus selected dishes, rolls and butter, coffee, iced tea or lemonade. “Miracle on 34th Street” at The Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI
Only 2 seats remain. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade needs a new Santa. Enter Kris Kringle—a sweet and jolly old man who claims that he is the real Santa Claus. Thus begins this funny, warm, tuneful and inspirational musical as Kris has to prove his claim in court and teach his neighbor and her daughter to believe in the goodness and love that is Christmas. Lunch includes cream of mushroom soup, a skinless breast of chicken dipped in egg and lightly breaded and served on a lemon cream sauce with garlic Parmesan orzo and roasted fresh vegetables. Mid-day join us as we shop at the Container Store in West Des Moines. Holiday Pops Concert, Adler Theater, Davenport
This year’s concert will be a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans throughout the world. It features the entire film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” being screened with the music removed and every note being performed live by the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. Relive the adventures of Harry and his friends and the magic of the film in high-definition on a giant screen, while hearing the orchestra perform John Williams’ unforgettable score. We have reserved a limited number of great main floor seats for both the 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. shows. Price is $45 adults, $41 for any student with an ID, age 5 through college, ticket only. The musical adaptation of the smash 1990 romantic comedy “Pretty Woman” has laid out its route to Broadway, with a creative team that includes musician Bryan Adams and Garry Marshall, the late director of the film, as well as a cast led by Samantha Barks. There will be time to shop/eat downtown prior to the 2:00 p.m. matinee, an optional visit to Trader Joe’s and a stop for dinner en route home. Church Basement Ladies 2nd Helping, Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI
Join us as our ladies deal with life, death, and new aeventures, finding strength in each other from below the “House of God”. This time around the year is 1969 and the world is changing. As folks protest the Vietnam War and women are demanding equal pay for equal work in their small rural Minnesota community, the ladies of the Lutheran church basement kitchen are dealing with changes of their own. With their humor and hilarious antics they take us from serving the high school students at the Luther League Banquet to a church sponsored Missionary Night and the rise and fall of a Viking’s Super Bowl Sunday. Lunch is a salad of strawberries, mangoes, candied pecans, and cheddar cheese on Arugula then glazed with a raspberry viniagrette dressing. Unfortunately, there has been so much interest in this cruise that it is sold out with 18 on a wait list. We’re still awaiting hotel and airline pricing, but should have it by about October 31 with a preliminary brochure available shortly thereafter. Bus arrives 30 minutes prior to departure from Northwest Bank & Trust Company, 100 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport, lower parking lot, west side of the building. Tenants and employees park in this lot and the Bank graciously allows us to use it while on trips. As a result, please park your vehicles west and north of the building. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Trips are payable about 30 days in advance unless stated otherwise. If you need to cancel, call us as soon as possible as many dates sell out and have a wait list. For overnight trips, a reservation is confirmed only when a completed reservation form, with your down payment, is received. Checks should be made payable to Classic Travels and mailed to 3371 Eastridge Drive, Bettendorf, Iowa 52722. Usually final payment dates are listed at the end of trip descriptions. To be fair, if payment is not received by the final payment date, reservations will automatically be offered to those on the wait list. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
