Dear Friends:                                                                                            Updated:  January 4, 2018

Happy New Year to all!  I hope that 2018 will be a healthier new year for all of us. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I still recuperate from this broken right arm. Thank you sincerely. For someone who has never been sick or injured, this has been an experience.

With that said, we’re not slowing down that much. You’ll notice that the Fireside shows are selling quite well for the year and usually sell out so call and reserve now so you’re not disappointed. We are booked in our usual great seats.

I was lucky enough to get 3 dates for “Hamilton”, the musical, and some seats are still available for July 11 and July 25. Call right away as payment is due in full in January on both.

After our fall shopping trip, we decided to try an overnight one and it is now set up for May 7-8 to some of our favorite places. It’s a great hotel right in Schaumburg. See details inside.

Our December Mystery Trip went to “Wandering Tree” a wonderful place in Barrington, IL with unbelievable displays of miniature trains, both inside and out, plus a nice lunch. No return date has been confirmed, but watch for it in our next newsletter. We might even include the Sanfillipo Mansion. It will most likely be in August and would be a wonderful trip for any train aficionado.

We’ve had several requests to go back to Shipshewana for good food, shopping and touring. Let me know if you are interested in a 3-4 day trip the first part of October.

Next January, I am putting final touches on a Celebrity cruise January 26-February 2. Let me know if you want information as soon as available and watch for details in the next newsletter.

Hawaii is always a great destination and I am tentatively holding space March 2-12 for a cruise in 2019. Yes, to get the best cabins we need to book this far out. If we have enough interest, we will work on putting this tour together again. It’s a great time of year to visit! Let me know.

If you’re not on our mailing list, please give us your name and address or email address or check out our website at www.classictravelsllc.com at your convenience.  Be sure to notice the date listed above so you’ll know you’re getting the latest newsletter. I will be updating whenever we have changes. Watch for the latest news.

God bless you and your families and as always, God Bless America. Pray for peace.

“Phantom” at The Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI
Sold out with only 2 on the wait list so call to be added! There may be cancellations. For over a century, audiences have been captivated by the tragic story of the disfigured genius who makes his home in the cavernous underground of the Paris Opera House and falls in love with Christine - the beautiful soprano he can never have.  Arthur Kopit and Maury Yeston’s moving presentation digs deep into the life of this tortured soul in a show filled with romance and mystery, thrills and excitement, colors and humor, and of course, their lyrical and luxurious music. Your heart races, your soul soars, and you fall in love all over again. It is, quite simply, an unforgettable theatrical experience! Lunch will feature cream of potato soup, beef short ribs and chicken Cordon Bleu with broccoli, cauliflower and a blend of wild rice. Dessert is an almond sponge cake with a rich chocolate and buttercream filling. Leave at 7:00 a.m., return 8:00 p.m. Price is $127 and includes bus, lunch and show. Final payment due Wednesday, January 17.  (Remember that January 15 is a holiday and no mail delivery!)

“Newsies” at The Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI
I’ve seen the Broadway show and if you love great dancing by some talented young men, be sure to see this one. Adapted from the Disney film set in New York at the turn of the century, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged “newsies,” who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right. High-energy with non-stop thrills, the stage version includes eight brand new songs by the original team of Alan Menken and Jack Feldman while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film such as “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” “King of New York,” and “Santa Fe.” Lunch is a blend of pineapple, mangoes, peaches and other fruit over garden greens with walnuts and papaya chutney dressing. The entrée is pork back ribs and a skinless breast of chicken, lightly breaded and topped with a spinach and cheese blend and served with scalloped potatoes and green string beans. Apple crisp with vanilla bean frozen custard and caramel sauce is dessert. Leave at 7:00 a.m., return 8:00 p.m. Price is $127 and includes bus, lunch and show. Payment due Tuesday, February 13.

As folks protest the Vietnam War and women are demanding equal pay for equal work in their small rural Minnesota community, the ladies of the Lutheran church basement kitchen are dealing with changes of their own. With their humor and hilarious antics they take us from serving the high school students at the Luther League Banquet to a church sponsored Missionary Night and the rise and fall of a Viking’s Super Bowl Sunday.
