This year there are several events to get you into the Holiday Groove. The “Gift of Christmas”, Sunday, December 3 by the Conklin players at the Caterpillar Performing Arts Theater in Washington, IL; the newly added One-Day Mystery trip, Wednesday, December 6; and the Jim McDonough concert, Saturday, December 9 at Five Flags Center in Dubuque.
The January 18-28 cruise/tour next year continues to be sold out. It cruises the Mexican Riviera with a pre-night on the “Queen Mary” in Long Beach, California, a 7-night cruise on the beautiful “Ruby Princess” and includes a post night with additional sightseeing in Los Angeles. The October final payment is quickly approaching. Hang in there if you’re on the wait list!
Fireside show dates are now available for the 2018 season and we have been receiving many reservations already. These shows usually sell out so call and reserve now so you’re not disappointed. We are booked in our usual great seats.
Next summer, a trip to “Charming French Canada” will be August 9-17 featuring three, first class Fairmont hotels--Chateau Frontenac, Le Manoir Richelieu, and Le Chateau Montebello. The preview will be Friday, November 3 at 3:30 p.m. See trip details inside. Also, we are close to having a brochure on next year’s southern bus trip to the Biltmore Estate, Charleston and Savannah, September 20-29. Details are inside as well on this one.
We’ve had tremendous interest in the Western Mediterranean Cruise for October 28-Nov. 11 next year. A preview will be held in late January. Call if you have interest. See article inside.

“Elvis Lives” at The Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI
Sold out with 2 on a wait list. The 250,000 “Elvis Lives” fans can’t be wrong! The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll lives on in an unforgettable live musical journey across Elvis’ life. Breitbachs, Apples and Fall Foliage, Balltown and Gays Mills, WI
We’re about two-thirds full for our annual trip through the countryside enjoying the fall foliage prior to our early luncheon buffet at Breitbach’s, Iowa’s oldest restaurant. We’re then off to buy apples and bakery items at an orchard in Gays Mills. En route home, we stop in Fennimore to buy Wisconsin cheese and also stop for gourmet popcorn at a great gift shop. “Miracle on 34th Street” at The Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI
Only 12 seats left on this date. Based on the Christmas movie, “Miracle on 34th Street”, written by Meredith Willson, is a big brassy Broadway musical with heart. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade needs a new Santa. Enter Kris Kringle—a sweet and jolly old man who claims that he is the real Santa Claus. Thus begins this funny, warm, tuneful and inspirational musical as Kris has to prove his claim in court and teach his neighbor and her daughter to believe in the goodness and love that is Christmas. Lunch includes cream of mushroom soup, a skinless breast of chicken dipped in egg and lightly breaded on a lemon cream sauce and served with garlic Parmesan orzo and roasted fresh vegetables. Fall Shopping Trip to the new Des Moines Outlets & More
Join us as we shop at Trader Joe’s and the Container Store in West Des Moines. We’ll then spend most of the day at the new outlets which are to open in late October. Some stores announced so far include Asics, Bath & Body Works, Carter’s, Converse, Famous Footwear, Francesca’s, Lane Bryant, Levi’s, Lids, LOFT Outlet, Maurices, Nike, OshKosh B’gosh, Skechers, Tommy Hilfiger, Under Armour, Vera Bradley, and Yankee Candle. The second wave of store announcements will be made about August 1 and we’ll put them in the next newsletter. We’ll stop for breakfast along the way and take a dinner break at McDonald’s in Williamsburg on our way home. Leave 6:45 a.m., return 8:15 p.m. Price is $50. Holiday Pops Concert, Adler Theater, Davenport
This year’s concert will be a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans throughout the world. It features the entire film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” being screened with the music removed and every note being performed live by the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. Bus arrives 30 minutes prior to departure from Northwest Bank & Trust Company, 100 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport, lower parking lot, west side of the building. Tenants and employees park in this lot and the Bank graciously allows us to use it while on trips. As a result, please park your vehicles west and north of the building. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Trips are payable about 30 days in advance unless stated otherwise. If you need to cancel, call us as soon as possible as many dates sell out and have a wait list. For overnight trips, a reservation is confirmed only when a completed reservation form, with your down payment, is received. Checks should be made payable to Classic Travels and mailed to 3371 Eastridge Drive, Bettendorf, Iowa 52722. Usually final payment dates are listed at the end of trip descriptions. To be fair, if payment is not received by the final payment date, reservations will automatically be offered to those on the wait list. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
