Dear Friends: Updated: August 5, 2024

Those shows remaining at The Fireside Dinner Theatre this year are “Matilda, The Musical,” “Rocky, The Musical,” and “Miracle on 34th Street.” The 2025 season shows are “Elvis,” “West Side Story,” “Murder on the Orient Express,” “The Church Basement Ladies,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Oklahoma” and “A Wonderful Life.”

There is still time to see “Some Like it Hot,” at the Cadillac Theatre in downtown Chicago. Winner of 4 Tony Awards, including Best Choreography and Best Costumes, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album. Set in Chicago when Prohibition has everyone thirsty for a little excitement. It is the story of two musicians forced to flee the Windy City after witnessing a mob hit.

At the Barn in Goodfield, IL, “As Long as We Both Shall Live.” She meets a man who can keep up with her, marrying him with his disapproving mother, as well as her favorite over-the-top wedding planner, Raul. But when Raul is poisoned at the rehearsal dinner things get complicated. Another show at the Barn is “A Christmas Tradition” -- where did all these traditions come from and what made them stay? We’ll explore the silliest, most sacred and sentimental traditions of the past and present through song, dance, and skits.

Start the season at the Barn with “Alone Together.” Mom and Dad have spent the last 30 years raising three active sons. How they looked forward to the peace, the quiet, and the privacy of an empty nest. In April “Nunsense A-Men!” is about five misfit nuns who are trying to put on a variety show to raise the money to bury the sisters who were poisoned by the convent cook.

There are several trips to Apples and More, 1-Day Mystery Trip, 1-Day Shopping Trip, and Branson for 5 days/4 nights in early December.

The Great Plains Adventure is a bus trip to all sorts of museums, and attractions to be held in October of 2025. See the last item on the newsletter for details.
